Joaquin Phoenix has admitted to lying. The star started his career as a child actor, later gaining wide attention for his portrayal of Commodus in the historical epic film Gladiator says that announcing his engagement was all a sham. What the star did, was clarify his statement on ‘Good Morning America’
that he just wants to spice up his ‘boring’ life story and makes him more interesting to public.
He is the third of five children is still a single man, it was just hours after he announced it on the David Letterman’s show that he was,
betrothed to his yoga instructor, then he showed up on “Good Morning America” to reveal that he made up the engagement story.
“I think my life’s so boring and so it seemed like something exciting to talk about,” the Oscar nominee said. “I want the audience to like me, and they really like people who are getting married.” He jokingly added, “I can get engaged again, if you like.”
He also addressed his fake engagement story on,
“Live! with Kelly and Michael”, saying that the “Late Show with David Letterman” host was aware it was a joke. He jokingly added that he proposed to Reese Witherspoon, his co-star in “Walk the Line” and “Inherent Vice”.
In a statement to The Independent, Phoenix’s rep said,
“Joaquin has an extraordinary and spontaneous sense of humor but it is not true.”
