Johnny Depp has received a makeup award. The former 21 Jump Street actor had joked about how he thought how ‘ridiculous’ he had looked during his films when he was given his first ever Distinguished Artisan honour at the Make-Up and Hair Stylists Guild Awards on Saturday, February 15, 2014. The fifty year old Sleepy Hollow actor received because of such
appearance-altering roles in movies such as ‘Edward Scissorhands’, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ he went onto say how ”ridiculous” he transformed his looks the past years.
After clips were shown of his work, he told the audience at Paramount Studios theatre in Los Angeles:
”This is a great honour, but glancing up at the screen I realize what a ridiculous thing I’ve done.
”I mean seriously, why do they still give me jobs? I’ve done a lot of things…I should probably apologise for a few, but I won’t.”
The star went on to say how much he liked having his face moulded in ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. He said:
”I found, oddly, that I liked being encased in all of that stuff. I try something different each time as an actor with the amazing help of make-up artists who have made my whole career.”
