Susan Boyle has Asperger’s syndrome. The Scottish singer, who was first recognized when she appeared on the reality show Britain’s Got Talent has been given this diagnosis, which is a form of autism, and now she hopes that people will try to understand her better. The fifty two year old, just one year ago went to a specialist and is now happy that she found out what her condition actually is, symptoms include difficulty interacting socially.
She told The Observer newspaper:
”I have always known that I have had an unfair label put upon me. Now I have a clearer understanding of what’s wrong and I feel relieved and a bit more relaxed about myself.”
It had been just recently when she she went to get treatment for exhaustion struggling to cope with her pressures of fame.
The ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ hitmaker said:
”I would say I have relationship difficulties, communicative difficulties, which lead to a lot of frustration. If people were a bit more patient, that would help.”
But she added:
”Asperger’s doesn’t define me. It’s a condition that I have to live with and work through, but I feel more relaxed about myself. People will have a much greater understanding of who I am and why I do the things I do.”
