The Charlatans is hoping for some closure with a memorial gig. The English inide rock band, which consists of lead vocalist Tim Burgess, guitarist Mark Collins, bassist Martin Blunt and Keyboardist Tony Rogers. Former member drummer Jon Brooked, who lost life to a brain tumour. Now the band will put on a tribute show for Brooks on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the London’s Royal Albert Hall, the lineup will including Liam Gallagher, Manic Street Preachers and a Dj set from the Chemical Brothers. Brooks was the founding member of the band, he was diagnosed in 2010, and although he got some what better, things turned bad and he died in August 2013.
Frontman Tim Burgess tells the London Evening Standard,
“In a funny way, it really doesn’t feel like he’s gone anywhere. If I receive a text from his wife, it comes up as Jon Brookes so it’s still like he is there really. We are starting to deal with it now, but with the event coming up that’s when it will probably hit home. It will be like closure.”
