Kelly Clarkson has wed, And the question is why did the winner of the first season of the Reality Show American Idol’s mother not receive a wedding invitation. She had the smallest celebrity wedding this year as she married the one she loves, Brandon Blackstock. The wedding took place in a rustic Tennessee ceremony, the A Moment Like This vocalist reveals,
. “I’m officially Mrs. Blackstock We got married yesterday at Blackberry Farms in TN, the most beautiful place ever!”
Clarkson, obtained a wedding license and said her vows in the same weekend, with his two children, a six and a twelve year old daughter from a previous marriage. It is just a little surprising that Clarkson made the decision not to invite her own family, or even her mother Jeanne Taylor.
Speaking to Celebuzz in the days following the wedding, Taylor revealed that she understood her daughter’s decision and was not hurt at all.
“She was so afraid we might be upset. But we were fine with it. I had known that she was under a lot of stress. And we just wanted her to be happy and not stressed out,” Kelly’s mother said. “I think the biggest thing for us to do was to allow her to do what she wanted to do,” Taylor added.
Jeanne also mentioned that having a crowd there to watch Kelly and Brandon exchange vows may have been emotionally embarrassing for the American Idol winner: “She said she cried through the whole thing anyway. She’s really emotional like that. She’s now glad she didn’t do it in front of a lot of people because then she’d be embarrassed.”
At first the pair did plan a larger day, but then decided on a smaller one. She is one break from being busy touring and recording for her upcoming Christmas album, Wrapped In Red.
Kelly spoke to E! News ahead of her wedding about her plans, saying
“We had a wedding planned, like a huge one – and we still have a wedding planned, but we’re not doing the big huge one. We’re just gonna (sic) go off with the kids and go get married and it’s just gonna be literally, seriously small.”
Back in 2006, the couple first met.
