In a new biography by music journalist Tom Doyle, the legendary singer had been in a state of despair, then her turned to alcohol and drugs following the end of the group of four.
He tells Doyle,
“It was Linda who saved me and it was all done in a sort of domestic setting.”
According to the biography, the seventy one year old,
“anxiety and began drinking heavily and smoking more marijuana after John Lennon told his Beatles bandmates he was leaving the group in 1969″.
“For the first time in his life, he felt utterly worthless… This was an identity crisis in extremis… When he did get out of bed, he would reach straight for the whisky, and by three in the afternoon, was usually out of it.”
It was a long road but with the help from Linda he did recover form his depression.
