“Oz: The Great and Powerful” is going to steal away the honors at the box office for the weekend of March 8-10, 2013.
Gossip Center reports: Disney’s tale of the man who would become the Wizard took in $24.1 million on its opening Friday.
Sliding into the second spot was the fantasy flick, and last week’s Number 1, “Jack the Giant Slayer,” which garnered $2.5 million for the first evening of the weekend.
Rounding out the top five in Friday earnings are the new film “Dead Man Down” ($1.8 million) in third, the comedy “Identity Thief” ($ 1.8 million) in fourth, followed by “21 and Over” ($1.6 million) in fifth.
