Texas Chainsaw 3D was released this weekend of January 4-6 for the box office, where the movie took first place.
Gossip Center reports: The John Luessenhop directed horror film had a Friday take of $10.2 million with a $23 million debut weekend in theaters.
Landing in the second spot is the Leonardo DiCaprio-fronted “Django Unchained.” Directed by Quentin Tarantino, the action thriller cashed in at $6.2 million on Friday with a total $20.1 million sophomore run.
Rounding out the top five at the box office in weekend earnings are the previously dominant “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” ($17.5 million) in third, followed by the musical “Les Miserables” ($16.2 million) in fourth and the family comedy “Parental Guidance” ($10.1 million) in fifth.
