Lance Armstrong opens up to being high during the win of the Tour de France seven times, as he sat down for a one on one interview with Oprah Winfrey for a ninety minute session.
Telegraph UK reports: Speaking on Sky News, she said Armstrong’s actions had stolen wins from honest riders who had ridden “clean”.
“While Lance Armstrong and people like him have profited from the wins that they’ve robbed from people, there are so many people who aren’t fortunate like myself to have been able to win clean and have success riding clean,” Cooke explained.
“There are so many riders who have stayed true to their morals, have ridden clean, and never had the opportunity to stand on the top of the podium, or in some cases never even got onto breaking into the professional scene, and Lance Armstrong and people similar to him have taken away whole careers from people,” she added.
Armstrong has never tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs and for a decade he strenuously denied doping and resorted to lawsuits to protect his reputation.
The publication of a damning 1,000-page report by USADA, which placed Armstrong at the centre of what it called one of the most sophisticated doping operations in sports, has led to counter-suits against the rider.
