Robert De Niro’s wife was honored by the Firefighters of New York City.
Contact Music reports: Robert De Niro‘s wife has been named honorary battalion chief by the Official Fire Department of New York.
Grace Hightower was sworn in by Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano on Thursday night (15Nov12).
In her new role, Mrs. De Niro will help raise awareness of fire safety and prevention and funds for the FDNY Foundation.
Hightower and her husband stopped by Engine Co. 23 on the Upper West Side of New York recently to personally thank firefighters who extinguished a June (12) blaze at their Central Park West apartment.
