Danica Patrick has decided that after seven years she wants a divorce from her husband Paul Hospenthal.
Showbiz Spy reports: The NASCAR star announced the news via her Facebook page.
“I am sad to inform my fans that after seven years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage,” Patrick wrote in a statement.
“This isn’t easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that’s how we will remain moving forward.”
Hospenthal, a physical therapist, and Patrick met while he was treating her for a non-racing injury, and married in 2005.
Danica was recently named the most popular driver in NASCAR’s Nationwide series, and will begin racing full time in the top-level Sprint Cup series next year for Tony Stewart’s Stewart-Haas Racing.
Patrick has previously insisted she doesn’t feel uncomfortable being both sexy and a racer.
“When I was younger I felt uncomfortable because I didn’t want people to look at me and think ‘she’s just some girl’, and write me off before they gave me a chance,” Danica said.
“There’s nothing I can’t do in a race car because I’m a girl. These days I love being a girl.
